Yesterday in the Senate, Senator Ringuette ask the Leader of The Government in the Senate to confirm that the Federal Government will pursue discussions with the New Brunswick Government to ensure that children in New Brunswick enjoy the same benefits as children in other provinces in terms of federal grants.
Senator Ringuette also stated:
“The New Brunswick's Conservative Government is refusing to sign on to Ottawa's child-care scheme until the federal Liberals meet their demand for $400 million to help refurbish the Point Lepreau nuclear power plant. That situation is unacceptable. This agreement would have allocated about $100 million to start building New Brunswick’s child-care system over the next five years and Lord is putting the future of the children of the province of New Brunswick in the same basket than a nuclear power plant.”
